cited summarys and how I will use it in my essay
"Dental amalgam controversy." Wikipedia. Wikimedia Foundation, Inc, 1 April 2010.
Web. 7 Apr 2010. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_amalgam_controversy
This site has so much information. It goes over practically everything anyone wants to know about amalgam. It covers what it is, the awareness of it, exposures, health effects, history, ADA, attempts in lawsuit, other countries who have band it, ect. Even though this has a lot of information about my subject amalgam. I wont be using a lot of it just because I know wikipedia is a web site where anyone can edit, but it’s a good web site to read up on amalgam and find new questions that I might of never even thought of like lawsuits that have happened. Therefore I’m just going to use this as my 5th site as kind of a reference.
"FDA ISSUES FINAL REGULATION ON DENTAL AMALGAM. " US Fed News
Service, Including US State News 29 Jul 2009,General Interest Module, ProQuest
. Web. 7 Apr. 2010.
This is form ProQuest it’s about how the FDA feels about amalgam, recommendations and its labeled as a class II risk. It goes to talk about in the past when it was just starting to become a problem and different date on testing amalgam. I’m going to use this article because its mostly from the FDA’s point of view. That way I will have this and the ADA point of view too. It will back up my argument.
Hall, David. "White Composite Fillings Versus Silver Amalgam Fillings." My new smile.
N.p., 1995. Web. 7 Apr 2010. http://www.mynewsmile.com/whitefillings.htm.
This is a blog I found written by Dr. David Hall he is a cosmetic dentist and his blog goes over lots of information about amalgam fillings and composite fillings also known as non-amalgam fillings. It give a list of pros and cons for both in bullet points, pictures of what both look like in a mouth, facts on what people manly want to know about amalgam and non-amalgam fillings. It also has links all over the place that I can go to for more information on silver fillings, tooth decay, cost of both filling and the list goes on. This helps me a lot because on of my supporting arguments is on alternative less harmful ways to fill teeth and this blog gives me easily facts on the pros and cons which will definitely go in my essay.
"Statement on Dental Amalgam." American Dental Association. American Dental
Association, 25 August 2009. Web. 7 Apr 2010.
This source talks about how amalgam is approved by that American Dental Association and they say its safe. They use some fact like science results and the World Health Organization to back up how it works and the safety of amalgam. Then lastly it give date of articles that has been published with test that have been proven that its fine to use. I’m going to use this for my counter argument because my essay is going to say why it isn’t safe. I’m going to use research and find statistics that say otherwise and maybe find stories of people who have had bad reactions to amalgam.
Stay, F.. "Is There a Battery in Your Mouth? " Total Health 1 Aug. 2007: Health Module,
ProQuest. Web. 7 Apr. 2010.
This source talks about three major things such as the different kinds of metals that can’t be used together because it cause currents in the mouth like a battery which can lead to a lot of pain, the risks and facts about amalgam and lastly the careful tips when getting implants because that deals with a lot of metal in the mouth as well. Mostly I’m going to use the risks and facts about amalgam because that is going to be my main argument. I found the different metals can cause currents interesting so I might use that a little and connect it with amalgam sense its all about metal and mercury.

Links
here are my 4 links for project #3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dentist
This link is from wikipedia, as you can see. I liked this website because it has many different topics to read about. It has some important stuff like the history of dentistry. How times have changed from long ago and the new technology today. Also it has the education and licensing of becoming a dentist in the United States.
http://blogs.payscale.com/salarystories/2007/11/sample-of-denta.html
alright this is my link for a blog about dental assistant facts and information like whats the difference between assistant and hygienist, salary costs, education, steps on what to do, job description etc. I picked this blog because of two reasons, one it was the only one that seems really informational than the others i found that was just trying to get people to make a appointment. the other reason was I'm not exactly sure what kind of dentist i want to be. there is a lot to chose from dental assistant, dental hygienist, surgeon, dentist, pediatrician (work with kids and baby mouths) there is probably even more. so I'm leaning on dental assistant and just dentist. so this information looks legitimate

wow this one is a long link. I got this on proquest. the publisher name was Career World. which seems to be maybe a magazine or article. and this mostly gave me the same kind of information as the other ones has but this actually tell about the stress level and the reward level of the job. which is interesting because this is the first website to tell me about the kinds of stress the job may carry, but very rewarding. To me its like personal advise from someone who is in the job or training to be one. not just facts and statistics
http://www.ada.org/
last but not least my professional organization which of course is the American Dental Association. this link is just to the home page but i could click and find multiple things like professional resources, public resources, education and career, science and research, Advocacy and more. this website will probably help me the most because i figure that the ADA will know the most facts and statistics on becoming a dentist.

What I Want To Be
For my class project I'm going to be studying and researching the field of dentistry. This is my dream career that i will achieve some day.
I want to get in the field of dentistry because of a incident that happened to me when i was only 8 years old. I had knocked out my permanent front two teeth on a trampoline. ever since then i have had so many different dentists from my regular check up dentist, to my orthodontist and surgeon.
It was a long process I had to go through. I had to get braces for 3 years and then i found out that the roots in my front 3 teeth were dieing because of they were traumatised from when they got hit. then after i had to have them pulled one by one and had a bridge of fake teeth i could take out only when i had to eat. 8 years later i went through my final sugary and got perminate fake teeth.
My family would of thought that my traumatic experience would make me afraid of dentist, but it instead made me interested and made me want to help people just like they had helped me.
